My dearest Anne Elizabeth, Jean and Laura. I just saw this obituary for Patty and my heart is just breaking. Patty was my dearest and first friend in Frankfurt Germany. I was 21 and she was 24. We immediately became fast friends in Nuernberg as Joe and Jim were there together on an audit. We stayed in the Grand Hotel across the street from the train station. We immediately became fast friends. We went sightseeing almost everyday while we were there. We also went on a ski trip in beautiful Garmisch a ski resort there. When we were back in Frankfurt and our guys were out of town on an audit we would stay at one another’s houses and stay up all night talking and then regret it when we were so tired the next day. lol. I almost got taken into the delivery room when Anne was born as Joe and Jim had gone to the house to bring Pat’s bag to the hospital. Her water had broken when the four of us were in the movie theatre watching “Your Cheating Heart” a movie about Hank Williams of all things. Patty was not then a country music fan. I was. She warmed to some of it later. Anyway, Joe and Jim went back to her house to get her hospital bag and I went with her to check her into the hospital. Why she and I we’ll never know. I guess we were all panicked. Anyway, Jim got there in the nick of time and he got to check her in. They were blessed with beautiful little Anne Elizabeth. You all three were such beautiful little girls and the light of her life. She was so proud of all of you and her wonderful grandchildren. We shared so much together. We caught up with one another in Virginia and then again in Elmhurst. I never got to California to see her when she lived there. We talked often though. We had just talked this August as my Joe passed away on August 13th this year. She was so sad about that. I’m going to miss having her in my world anymore and not being able to talk to her as I know you all will. We do have such wonderful memories though. I know she will be with her Mom and Dad and Siblings and will be so happy. She talked of them so often. She dearly loved her family. And more than anything else she loved all of you and your families. She will be sorely missed.
