My sympathy and prayers for Marlene’s family. We are assured she is singing w/the Angels.. no doubt leading them… and telling one of her famous stories. I had the pleasure of getting to know Marlene through my ministry at IC. She sewed my 1st Eucharist children’s banners until she relocated to Lemont. I had the joy of continuing our conversations when I would visit her at Franciscan Village or chatted w/her on the phone. I will miss her calls , her positive attitude and the faith she shared w/me. May she rest in peace.

I know Frank. He loved his mom. Frank said one of her amazing talents home made raviolis! Yum!
My deepest sympathy to family. May her memory be a blessing.

Marlene was a true friend to my Mom, Rita Hanrahan. Starting in Oak Park at St Catherine of Sienna, to their move to Elmhurst in 1968 at IC.
This friendship meant so much to mother, especially after the passing of her youngest sister at 52 & her youngest daughter at age 37. Marlene would give a quick call every day. It really helped Mom. She is a Saint.

Growing up, I spent so much time at Grandma’s. We lived just five minutes apart, so Sundays meant going over for dinner after church. She would make something delicious every time, sometimes her “crappy chili,” as she jokingly called it because it was Papa’s “knock-off.” But to me, both Papa’s chili and her “crappy chili” were always perfect. She’d say, “Eat up!” and there was no such thing as turning down seconds. We finished every meal saying “Grandma you cook so good.”

As a kid, I was also so excited to see Tweety, Grandma’s little canary. It was something I looked forward to every single visit. When she wasn’t cooking one of her amazing dishes, music filled the house. She loved to sing about anything and everything. Christmas Eve was always extra special gathered around her piano, singing carols, and opening gifts together.

One thing is for sure: Grandma loved her family deeply and spread kindness wherever she went. She had the softest heart, but she was also a comedian who made everyone feel welcome. She was a woman of faith who shared wisdom even when life threw its hardest curveballs. She held my hand when I saw my dad for the last time and was a steady shoulder to cry on.

She was the best grandma I could have ever wished for.
    Love you forever, Gram.
