Glenn R. Krietsch

Glenn R. Krietsch, age 79, of Oak Brook, died from complications of ALS on Saturday, July 19, 2025. The disease stole his independence and muscle mass, but not his dignity or his sarcastic sense of humor.

Glenn is survived by his wife Joyce, nee Irvin; his children Ryan (Cyndy) Krietsch, Leigh (Nels) Boerner, and Erik (Vanessa) Krietsch; his grandchildren Hanna, John, Alice, and Natalie Krietsch, Henry and Frances Boerner, and Bryce, Parker, and Zachary Krietsch; his brother Paul (Judy) Krietsch; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jay and Jean; his brother, Brian; and his grandson, Lincoln.

Glenn had a long career in banking, specializing in commercial lending, even trying retirement out but deciding he didn’t like it. He was a proud Army helicopter pilot and Vietnam Veteran, an avid golfer and pickleball player, and a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His favorite places to be were at his children’s or grandchildren’s cross country and track meets, and on the golf course with his wife, sons, or grandchildren (he gave up trying to bribe his daughter to play years ago). Glenn also leaves behind many friends, and many many golf shirts.

I am distressed to learn of Glen’s passing last Saturday. I had known Glen, Joyce and the family as our neighbors at the Oak Brook Club for several years. Glen was a Vietnam Army veteran having served as a helicopter pilot rescuing stranded wounded soldiers. Since I too served in US Army during the Vietnam war, I was very familiar of his work in the military. We often shared our military experiences. Asides, Glen was an avid and a great golfer and loved the game passionately. Glen was smart, friendly and very knowledgable about a lot of things. Above all, his expertise on financial matters had no match. We at the O. B. Club meetings respected his opinion. Above all the great qualities he possessed, he was a gentleman and a great family man who deeply loved Joyce, his children and specially his grandkids. We will miss him dearly. Rest in Peace Glen, we will never forget you.

We had the opportunity to get to play pickleball with Glen and Joyce at the Oak Brook Recreation Center. On the Pickleball court, Glen was kind, encouraging and fun! He was well liked by the players and will be greatly missed. Our sympathy and prayers go out to Joyce and the rest of his family.
