Donna Campbell

Donna Campbell (nee Crowley), a lifelong Elmhurst resident, passed away peacefully at the age of 70. A woman of deep faith and unwavering love, Donna’s life was a testament to the values she held deep in her heart.

Donna’s educational journey began at Immaculate Conception Grade School and continued at Immaculate Conception High School (class of 1972). A trailblazer, she was in the first four-year class of women to graduate from the University of Notre Dame, where she earned a degree in Government in 1976. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to Northwestern University, where she earned her MBA in 1982.

Donna’s professional career included a successful tenure at Sears-Roebuck in merchandising. However, her true calling was found in her selfless service to others and to God. She was a dedicated volunteer at Immaculate Conception grade school, high school, and parish. Donna also previously served as a member of the Elmhurst Planning and Zoning Commission, and she gave of her time as a mentor in the Daybreak program for homeless families and as a volunteer at the Immaculate Conception food pantry. Her commitment to helping those in need extended to her involvement on the Illinois Council of Feed My Starving Children, including traveling to Haiti and Nicaragua to deliver meals. She was an avid world traveler, using it to bring her closer to her faith (e.g., the Holy Land, Lourdes, Fatima), to experience adventure (e.g., African safari, Alaskan dog sledding, New Zealand bungee jumping, biking through French and Italian vineyards), and to see family and friends.

Donna’s passion for her faith was evident in her work as a gifted speaker, prayer leader, and organizer for programs like Called and Gifted and the Women’s Morning of Reflection. Her ability to inspire and uplift others was a gift that touched countless lives.

Above all, Donna was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Jack Campbell, and a loving mother to her children, Carrie, Jack (Laura), and Julie. Her grandchildren, Kayce and Jack, were the light of her life. She also leaves behind her dear sister, Denise (Dave) Brenner, and brother, Dennis (Renee) Crowley, as well as her aunt Joan Cusack and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. And she was a beloved daughter of the late Dennis and Janet Crowley.

Donna’s life was a beacon of love, faith, and service. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
