I’m so sad for this loss for the family. I have countless warm memories through the years of talking with Ed, usually at family get-togethers, with Ed comfortably perched in a corner chair. He was reliably both interesting and interested, wanting to learn about others and what they thought. Ed cherished being the outsider and he warmed to this non-Catholic in-law decades ago. He shared so many fascinating stories and was able to articulate why he had the opinions he did, usually referencing personal stories in the process. Always happy, hopeful, curious, and quick-witted, my family is enriched in having gotten to know Ed. I suspect I’ll have a lingering sense at future family functions that Ed is comfortably perched in a corner chair just in the other room, happy for a chat, and it will be a sad realization that it will just be those warm memories. Hugs from London, you’re all in our thoughts at this difficult time.

Aunt Mary Ellen and Family,
Uncle Ed, you will be missed deeply. From our random holiday conversations or sports talk, to a card game or dare I say a long night of Risk. Those lucky enough to spend time with Ed will forever be impacted by his inquisitive and cheerful presence. May you rest in peace. Your name and legacy will be carried on by all of us. Rest in Peace, Uncle Ed.

Sending Mary Ellen, Maureen, Kathy and John and also all the extended family our heartfelt condolences on the passing of Ed. He was a true gentleman and we were privileged to have met him in London, Ireland, Pittsburgh and in his Chicago home where he was so welcoming. He will be warmly remembered in our thoughts and prayers as will you all in your sadness and grief. May Ed rest in God’s peace and may all who mourn his passing find comfort in the memories of having shared his life. Sending our love and prayers to you all from your Irish cousins.
