Sincere condolences. Jimbo as we used to call him on and off the water will alway be remembered for his fun and friendship. His passion for sailing, which he knew how to share, was a blessing for us all, week-end and more serious sailors. I am proud to have met you Skip. RIP

Condolences to family and friends. Jim was a friend of mine in college and a better friend post college. I still use some of his old jokes from way back when.
I was always so grateful to be able to stay in touch with him all those years. My son and I were able to connect with Jim several times in Switzerland to experience his warm hospitality and clever banter. I continued to connect with Jim in Chicago recently. As we all know, God broke the mold.

    Oh no…….
When I was a freshman at St. John’s and Mitch, an upperclassman, learned I was from Chicago (Elmwood Park), he took me under his wing and always made sure I had rides to/fro home for Semester Breaks. We’d always stop at The Sand Bar in The Dells for a steak “sanny” and a game of pool.
He invited me to the parties that most underclassmen didn’t get the nod for.
He was very kind and thoughtful, not to mention a lot of fun.
I have very fond memories of Mitch. I am saddened by his passing. God Bless him and all of you.

Mitch you will always be my right winger. We all had a roll to play and yours was putting the puck in the back of the net. And you did it well. I will always cherish our High School hockey memories. We were on top of the world. May the Lord be with you Captain. Your friend, Johnny Cuder

First met Jim in 2006 in Newport RI for the 100th Newport Bermuda Race. From that time on we became great mates and shared many miles on the water with our shared love of sailing. So many memorable moments shared both on and off the water for the last 15 years. My thoughts today are with Maddie and all Jim’s family and friends. Fair winds and following seas old mate. Thanks for all the memories. Loved you like a brother.

Dear Mike and Amy – I was so sorry to learn of Jim’s passing! Although I haven’t seen him since IC Grade School, I remember that Jim was really a good guy who had many friends. We were on the 7th and 8th grade football team together. Please accept my condolences as I am unable to attend this morning’s services. Brian Cronin and the Cronin Family

Wow, still missing that guy. Woke up this morning thinking about a night out with him, the surprisingly wise advise he had for a situation, and then the fabulous steak we had. Cheers again Jimmy…

Amy, Kathy and Michael. I send my most sincere sympathy on the passing of your brother, James and your parents. I was recently trying to find your dad and came across this obituary and those of both your mother and father. I loved your family and remember you all from your younger days. I worked for your dad at his car wash for many years till I started my own family. My mother and brothers all worked for your dad too. Your parents were were such kind people. And your family was very special to me. Love, Cherrie Welch Maggiore
