Robert Kevin Callahan, 66, Native of Chicago, currently of Elmhurst; died peacefully at home with his family by his side; beloved husband of Linda, nee Mangieri; loving father of Kevin (Caroline) Callahan, Lawrence Knott and Mary Ann Knott; cherished grandfather of Dominick, George and Cara Rose; dear brother of Kathleen (Harvey) Guion, Donna (Marty) Fitzgerald, Bill (Valerie) Callahan and the late James (Denise) Callahan; adoring nephew of Mary Falbo and Carmella Ammond; fond uncle and cousin of many. Bob completed his distinguished career serving as Vice President, Executive Director Sales-Marketing-Business Development North America-South America-Europe for Senqcia Maxco. His natural curiosity to learn about the countries where he did business was exceeded only by his warmth and the close personal connections he made with the people he met. Bob was always willing to mentor, teach, coach – old or young, professional or personal- he was available. Bob loved all sports, tending his garden and welcoming all to his backyard sanctuary. A celebration of Bob’s life is being planned for later this year when friends and family can gather together safely. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 or PTDA Bob Callahan Future Leaders Fund, 230 W. Monroe St., Chicago, IL 60606-4703. Arrangements handled by Gibbons Funeral Home, Elmhurst. 630-832-0018 or www.gibbonsfuneralhome.com

There are only a few people we encounter in life whom satisfies the definition of “mentor”. Bob was certainly a mentor to many people including me. I am very grateful to have known him and I pray for his family during this unfortunate time.

Dear Linda, Kevin, Larry & MaryAnn, cousins Kathy, Billy and Donna, Aunts Mary and Carmella and all who knew and loved Bobby. Our heartfelt sympathies for your incredible loss. Bobby was a bigger than life guy. Full of joy, passion, laughter, kindness and fun. No one had a brighter smile or persona when he entered a room. No one could make you feel more loved with his gigantic hugs. Guessing that when he arrived at the gates of heaven, there was a big crowd of family and friends waiting for him to celebrate his amazing journey on earth and the wonderful gift he was to so many of us and – for the party to begin. We wish you peace in the loving memories of Bobby, a truly terrific guy. With love, Jeanne (Lenti) and Joe Ponsetto

My condolences to Linda and the entire Callahan family. I worked with Bob for several years at U.S. Tsubaki and we became friends. Bob was instrumental in my being hired at UST and he was responsible for creating many opportunities for me. I will never forget his kindness and generosity. Bob will be missed by all who knew him. RIP my friend.

    Dear Linda,
Bob talked about you all while we were on business trips. Sending you and your family our heartfelt condolences during this incredibly sad time.
We are both deeply saddened about Bob’s passing, we are based in the UK and have worked with Bob for a decade, he really was a big character with a huge heart, full of positivity and respect for everyone he met. His advice and guidance has been invaluable and he is missed already! With all the customers and distributors he met, he made a lasting impression, his passion for the industry was infectious and we try to follow what he passed on to us. We didn’t just lose a colleague he was also a good friend. We have many photos of Bob over the years, it has been nice to look through them all, we can of course share them with you. Rest in peace Bob.

    Dear Family,
Bob was always such a first class gentleman in all of our business dealings. Even in challenging negotiations, Bob always took the high road. Bob’s openness about his health adversity was brave, honest, and humble. Bob knew we were praying for him, and pulling for him. So sorry to see him leave us so young. Deepest sympathy extended to all of Bob’s family and friends! He will be missed!
