Peter Noth Carey, age 87, of Elmhurst, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family; loving husband of Jeri Maureen, nee McGrath, for over 64 years; cherished father of Brad (Tracy), Neil (Ann Marie), Charles, Maureen (Michael) Barry and Nancy Carey; proud Papa of Peter and Brinne Carey, Daniel and Patrick Barry and Brendan Carey; dear brother of Jane Ann (the late Kenneth) Konecny and Anthony Carey; fond uncle and dear friend of many. Peter was a very proud graduate of Fenwick High School, Class of 1951, a pride he shared with his three sons and five grandchildren, also Fenwick graduates. Pete was also a graduate of Loyola University Class of 1955. He was a kind, caring, gentle man and he will be missed by so many. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fenwick High School, in memory of Pete Carey, 505 Washington Blvd., Oak Park, IL 60302. In person services are private, but the funeral Mass will be available to view Saturday, November 14, 2020, 11:00 a.m. via Livestream. Dear Maureen and Family,
I will forever remember “Pete” as such a kind, funny and compassionate man. I can still see him sitting in his chair in the family room on May Street when I would visit during our U of I days and after. He would stop whatever he was doing when I walked in and took the time to ask how I was and what was new. He always made me feel so welcome in his home. I was a classmate of Pete’s. I never got to know him very well because I was a “commuter student” from Glen Ellyn. But I do remember him to be a very friendly, honest guy. After graduation from Fenwick and Marquette University I married and have called Fond du Lac Wisconsin home for 65 years. Peter somehow found my email address and kept me in touch with our class activities. He organized the Class of ’51 luncheons at Jimmy’s bar in Forest Park and invited me but my wife needed constant care at that time. After she died, I attended the December 2017 luncheon. Unfortunately, Pete was in the process of moving and did not attend, and it turns out that was the last luncheon. I feel badly that I didn’t get chance thank him for his efforts, but he will be remembered.

Pete Carey was a great guy. Both he and Jerri were great friends of my parents. They had a lot of great times together; many great memories. I am sure he will be missed by many. What I remember most about Pete (from the Realty World – Doan days with Jeri in the 80’s) was he always seemed upbeat and greeted you with a big smile, genuinely happy to see you, to be there, wherever that was..
