To the entire Flood family- you guys may not recognize my name but I worked with Tony for over 20 years at Pactiv but never actually lived in the Chicago area, our first assignment together was when he was Tech Manager at Wheeling and we were on a Pactiv wide engineering team. Tony was one of the smartest and most honest guys I ever worked with at Pactiv. He always let you know where he stood and was always concerned about everyone that worked for him or worked with him and their families. I am sure there was no better a husband, father, friend, or employee than Tony. The last time I talked to him was a few weeks ago by mistake, he dialed me in error but he asked about me and how my handicapped wife was doing. I know that his passing will leave an unfillable hole in your family as well as the Pactiv family. You guys will be in my thoughts and prayers. Gregg Hebert

My thoughts and prayers are with the Flood family. I worked here and there with Tony through my 20+ years at Pactiv. I was able to get closer with Tony a few years back when we worked on the same team at Pactiv. We spent many hours together, brainstorming about work related opportunities. Tough to find a better person in their field. My fondest memories are of Tony trying to convince me that Rugby was the best sport and I would be better off learning more about it. Well friend, I’m now going to learn about it in your honor, but I probably still won’t watch it. RIP Mr.Flood.

Like so many others, I crossed paths with Tony during my time at Wheeling and then at Pactiv. He was a great friend and mentor, wonderful sense of humor and we did enjoy getting his “Irish” up from time to time. I had the luxury to follow him as plant manager at the Wheeling facility and he went out of his way to help and support my transition. Tony had a wonderful way of letting you know what was on his mind but you will not find a more committed individual to helping others become successful. I will miss his smile, his sense of humor and wit. Thoughts and prayers to the entire family. He will be missed in all our hearts.

Mr. Anthony Flood, for many of us Tony, our manager, our bosses boss, VP and a most brilliant business mind, with a wide range of knowledge that many of us have learned from and under his guidance we have become well rounded leaders over the past several decades. Tony’s business acumen was endless; treating employee at all levels equally, providing insightful feedback, leading major projects where our company could grow to the highest levels and us employees to our fullest potential. There was no BS with Tony, you either had the answer and the one that was a correct one.
Mr. Flood you are leaving a huge void in our company and among all of us who had a privilege to work you and grow under your guidance. Most of all, Tony was always able to find a minute or two in our busy schedules to be concerned about our personal struggles … a truly caring man. Will miss you dearly. My deepest condolences to entire Flood family, to his wife and sons and anyone who knew him. RIP

Deepest condolences to Linda, Sinead and Kevin and to Tony’s extended family. I have read through the comments left by others and I can see that Tony left a mark on those he came into contact with. I worked with Tony at Pactiv, he was my bosses boss at the time. As others have indicated Tony was not shy about stating what was on his mind. Some may have been put off by it, but most realize it was a raw honesty that was and is in short supply. Tony was pivotal in launching my career, taking a chance on me when taking a chance was not in vogue. Our exchanges fueled by our cultural passion Italian vs Irish was colorful to say the least. I once said to him i owe you, “for helping me”. He replied don’t worry, ” I will get my payment back ten fold”, and he did. Working for him presented many opportunities, and I learned a lot from his mentoring. I considered him a friend as well as a colleague, he always helped when i asked for assistance, and it was reciprocated. If i can be of any assistance to your family please let me know.

Please accept my deepest condolences for the tragic loss of Tony. I’ve known Tony for the last 15+ years and worked directly for him as a plant manager at Pactiv for 2+ years. He was a commanding presence professionally speaking and exuded a larger than life personality. He was extremely smart, had very high standards, was brutally honest, and possessed a wonderful sense of humor. He demanded excellence and had no tolerance for excuses, just solutions. His contributions to the business and to those he worked with over his storied career are incalculable . He made us all better at our jobs without losing sight of the importance of family, friends, compassion, and humor. He left this Earth much too soon but made the most of his time here. We will dearly miss our co-worker and friend, Tony Flood, rest in peace…..

    Dear Flood Family,
My wife & I extend our condolences to your immediate family and to Tony’s very large extended family. I am Alan Box based out of Atlanta and I worked closely with Tony in his Molded Fiber Days doing several projects. Our relationship continued while he was in Germany and when he returned. I got several calls from Germany on what to do and see, since Tony knew I was stationed there with the Army and also have a German wife. Three St. Patrick’s days ago, the wife and I spent the evening with Tony and Kevin Quinn at Atlanta’s largest Irish Pub, a most memorable night (I think). I got a call two year ago Master’s weekend I met up with Tony on a Saturday night for a dinner and drinks at another Irish Pub while he was waiting for son Kevin to fly in. He encouraged me to visit his favorite Pub in Dublin and he said that the place had not changed in 35 years from the picture I sent him. He was a great guy, friend, and leader and he will be missed!
