Dear Ciaran, Ryan and Aidan, and to the extended Dunning and O’Loughlin families. We are all so very sorry for the loss of your dear Jeanette. Gone before her time and had so much more to give to you all. She was so determined in her battle over the last few years and a true inspiration to us all. I had the the pleasure of meeting her in Summer 2004 upon my arrival in Chicago and witnessed your relationship take off from the word go. You were always such a great couple and great friends to me. For me she was always one of the gang, so easy going, always warm and enthusiastic in everyone’s company. She was so excited to come to Ireland and really enjoyed heading west, she had a real gra for those visits and seeing all your family again. So many great memories of great times together in Chicago and in Ireland. Your wedding in Chicago will always stick out for me Ciaran. What a brilliant week that was. A time I will always treasure and won’t be forgotten. Our deepest condolences to you all at this heartbreaking time. Rest in peace Jeanette

I am heartbroken. I met Jeanette a few times and she left quite an impression – I was so happy that Ciaran found such a lovely girl to fall in love with! I remember that we (the Walsh girls) were lucky enough to be in Ireland when Ciaran brought Jeanette to meet his Nana. I remember it so vividly – Jeanette’s smile is unforgettable, plus I remember the way she looked at Ciaran, the first time I met her. I also have a vivid memory that Ciaran’s Uncle Cathal, confided in all of us, that he thought the two of them would be the next wedding in the family! Cathal said, “she must be very very special to Ciaran if he is introducing her to Nana”. No truer words were ever spoken, Cathal. Good on ye, Ciaran!

I also remember that we loved her!… I admired the fact that she was meeting Ciaran’s (extra) large Irish family and, if that wasn’t enough, American cousins, to boot… and everyone was talking over everyone and there she was, in the middle of it all… enjoying it all. We had a great chat with her about what it was like being an American in Ireland, not understanding slang words or colloquialisms, even though they were in English and realizing that it takes a while to really “understand” why everyone is laughing so hard at something innocent you said… and how funny (and difficult) it was to try and pronounce Gaelic words… Jeanette agreed that we were a “people separated by a common language” and shared some funny stories of her own, things that she had come across when she first was living in Ireland. She loved it.

I also recall the day, a few years later, Dolores and I got together with Jeanette and Ciaran, in Spring Lake, NJ, after they were married, but, before the boys were born. Jeanette had a conference in Manhattan and before it started, we decided to get out of a sweltering NYC, on a summer weekend, and go to the beach, at the Jersey shore. I remember how they were both “up” for anything. I got to sit on the beach with Jeanette and talk. The four of us talked and talked the entire ride back to the city… a good time.

I admired Jeanette’s determination and her professional accomplishments… running a marathon after being diagnosed! She was lovely, determined and a pleasure to be around. What a blessing they were to each other. All my love and blessings and prayers to Ciaran, her beautiful boys, her wonderful parents, Kay & Eamonn and everyone who is hurting over this devastating loss…

Thank God for the blessing she was to all of us.
    Love and prayers,
    The Walsh Family

I worked with Jeanette a handful of years ago at the bank, although I ran into her downtown maybe a year or 2 ago… she looked happy then and said how everything was great, her boys were growing up so fast, etc; she didn’t share any news then, I only found out later… I was hoping to one day get together with her again sometime. I loved how warm and positive she always was, so easy to talk to, so real. Always had a smile on her face, was always happy to help explain something… and she was so fun to just be around. My heart just broke with this. She was one of the best, heaven has gained an angel.
