   To John’s family – With deepest sympathy as you remember John. He was a great friend, co-worker, and interesting individual. We spent a lot of time working together at Green Bay Packaging as well as building and sharing great memories at the hunting cabin “up north” during deer seasons! His “Irish spirit” will live on forever. He will be missed!

   Cousin John, I will remember you as a loyal traditionalist and straight-shooter. You were the patriarch of the remaining Drislane clan and you will be sorely missed. I know you are with Elsie and John and the rest of the Drislanes….please hug them all for me. God Bless you and thanks for being the kind of man you were. All my love, cousin Marie

   I am deeply saddened. John and I go way back to the Chicago Jack & Jill club in the ’70’s. We have talked to each other at least twice a year for the last few years. He was a great friend and a stand-up guy!! I will miss him a lot.

   Johnny, you’ve left me the oldest of the family in the U.S. I remember Auntie Elsie making breakfast for all of us after Sunday mass at St Angela’s. I remember the parties at our house on Monitor with all your buds including Joe Gunnell and Tom Reynolds and all Hen’s friends. You brought all your swabbie buds home when you were at boot camp at Great Lakes. You never got to be the pilot you wanted to be, but stayed close by being an airplane mechanic. During the Bay of Pigs you were flown to Guantanamo. What a wonderful job you did building the rock chimney in the Twin Lakes house and how much you enjoyed the sauna you put in. You so loved Caetlin and Shannon. You talked Caetlin into disobeying her dad by riding without seatbelts in the old car you renovated. You teased me mercilessly about munching on “Bambi”. You did all my laundry when I was there taking care of Hen. You planted white lavender in her honor because she loved it so much. You loved your mother dearly and wouldn’t get rid of her dining room set, “it was Ma’s”. You were the classic old grouch with the heart of gold and I will miss you more than words can say.

    My husband John and I knew John and Helen for over 25 years. They were wonderful neighbors , Twin Lakes and enjoyed a good Irish story. I was there the night John passed away and when Helen also passed. Their quick sense of humor and wit was engaging. Their parties legendary. We were so impressed by his life story that was presented through the video. He loved and was loved. I will miss our backyard chats. He and Helen are missed. Our condolences to his family.

    I’ve only just come across Johnny’s death notice. May he Rest in Peace. I’m one of his many Irish cousins. I met him for the first time in Ireland when he was just a boy together with his Dad, our lovely Uncle John. When I grew up I visited them in Chicago when I was en route to visit my brother in California. Such pleasure also to meet his adored Mom, Aunt Elsie. We kept in touch & I subsequently visited when Uncle John was nearing his last days.
    Johnny & I met again in California when I made the sad journey for my late brother Louis’ untimely death. We very much appreciated Johnny making the effort to join us for his funeral.
    Sometime later he sadly lost Helen which I’m sure changed everything for him.
    Despite his many invitations to visit him in Wisconsin I never got around to it. I thought of him from time to time particularly during this Covid world upheaval. Eventually I emailed him but it was rejected. That prompted me to search.
    I don’t know if this note will reach any of Johnny’s loved ones. I can only send condolences from Ireland to all Drislane family & all his friends. At dheis De go raibh a anam dilis.
