Richard J. “Dick” Small, age 92, Veteran USCG, member IBEW Local 134, longtime member Boy Scouts of America, American Legion and Cook & DuPage Bee Association; beloved husband of Grace, nee Karasinski; loving father of Susan (Rich) Nagel, Sharon (the late Nick) Arvis and James (Theresa) Small; proud grandfather of Daniel (Jasmine), Beth and Robert (Natalie) Nagel, Julianne (Adam Hendrix) and Stephen Arvis, Sarah, Michael, Hannah and the late Erin Small; cherished great-grandfather of Harper, Dafne, Damin, Josephine, Richard and Chase; dear brother of the late Lucille (the late Al) Gatlin, Thomas (the late Shirley) Small, Jr. and Marianne (the late William) Lyman; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Visitation Friday, 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Gibbons Funeral Home, 134 South York Road, (½ mile North of Saint Charles Road), Elmhurst. Visitation Saturday, 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 a.m. at Villa Scalabrini, 480 North Wolf Road, Northlake. Interment Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, Hillside. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital, 2211 N.     Uncle Dick will be missed by all! I suppose the questions remain like “Will Susan or Sharon be as good with Orchids?” or “will Jim loving continue to provide honey from Small Bees”. His smile, and hobbies and love for his extended family will be forever special!
