MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS
Phil Troyer, Harper
I am in Arizona this week so will not be in attendance to honor Tom and your family. My sincere condolence to you all.
Bill McCabe
Thank you, Phil. Our family realizes not every person could honor dad with a personal appearance due to location and travel. His connection to the people of Harper College was very special. Thank for your note and best wishes. (Son) Bill McCabe
George Dorner
Tom was a best friend to many, always considerate of others and their families and especially of students. We treasure memories of that friendship and will miss sharing tales of family, the Marines, the ND Irish, early Harper College, math classes, and all sports at all levels. Mary and I are in Germany and also lament that we send final farewells from afar. Our condolences and thoughts are with Dorothy and the very large and beloved family.
Susan (McCabe) Sheffer
George Dorner, I’m sorry you and your wife were not able to make it to Dad’s funeral services. You were a good friend and colleague. It would have meant a lot to Dad that you reached out at this time.

Tom McCabe will be missed by many especially from the Class of 1949 at St. Gregory the Great High School. I was blest to have known Tom for so many years, since the first grade at St. Greg’s. Many times we would speak of our days in our neighborhood and also of Tom’s love of his wife Dorothy and all of his children and grand children. I feel very honored to have shared so much time with Tom on our phone calls. Tom called me the night before he planned on entering Hospice and he passed the next day. My thoughts and prayers are for Tom’s wife, Dorothy and the family. God has given us so many happy memories of Tom’s life and love of the Marine Corps. Sincerely, Ozzie.
Susan (McCabe) Sheffer
Thank you for your kind words, Marylyn. Dad spoke fondly of you. He loved his time at St. Gregory’s. What a great group of friends! It meant a lot to Dad that you all kept in touch over the years.

I think the last time I saw your dad (Theresa) was at one of your 4th of July parties, and now I’m reading that he passed on the 4th. I will always smile when I think of him and remember him as a kind, funny and generous man, surely a blessing to all who knew him. Praying for your whole family (especially your sweet mom) during this difficult time.

Tom and I were one of the first faculty members hired at Harper. I know he was looking forward to celebrating Harper’s 50th Anniversary in September. I will miss his subtle insights into what was happening at Harper. Tom was very instrumental in leading the faculty to make Harper the place it has become. I speak for all the Founding Faculty that we wish you Godspeed and Rest In Peace. May God welcome you into Heaven.
