Donald A. Hoskinson, age 92, passed away peacefully and surrounded in love; Native of Chicago and longtime resident of Leyden Township, Navy Veteran of WWII and Korea; beloved husband of the late Eleanore, nee Richards for 53 years; loving father of Sharon (Joe) Dote, Mary Jo Cronin, Terese (Tim) Gillum, Tom (Christine Borg) Hoskinson and Ann (Bob) Clark and the late David and Michael (Julie Schroeder) Hoskinson; proud grandfather of Jon Michael Hoskinson, Philip Hoskinson, Brenna Cronin, Paul Dote, Michael Dote, Dan Cronin, Tyler Gillum, Trevor Gillum, Tony Hoskinson, Nicole Clark, Payton Hoskinson and Megan Clark and great-grandfather of Bobby Hesse; cherished son of the late Albert and the late Mae, nee Tierney, Hoskinson and dear brother of the late Roger (the late Helen) Hoskinson. Don proudly served his country during World War II and the Korean War in the US Navy as a Machinist Mate (Petty Officer First Class) aboard the Heavy Cruiser USS Portland and the Aircraft Carrier USS Oriskany. He spent over 30 years working for International Harvester (Navistar) as a design engineer. Don and Eleanore were one of the founding families of St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church in Northlake, IL, where he spent over 60 years being a faithful servant to God as a lector and Eucharistic minister. Visitation Thursday, 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m. until time of funeral 9:00 a.m. at Gibbons Funeral Home, 134 South York Road, (½ mile North of Saint Charles Road), Elmhurst. Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 a.m. at Saint John Vianney Catholic Church, Northlake. Interment Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, Hillside. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Journey Care Hospice, 405 Lake Zurich Road, Barrington, IL 60010 or a charity of your choice.     Our condolences to the family. We knew Don for a short time but he was always gracious & thoughtful of us. We know he will be missed my all. May God’s peace rest upon you as you say goodby to him.
