David John Dyer

David John Dyer, 69, of Elmhurst will be best remembered by his steadfast commitment to family, friends, church and community. His generous spirit and habit of quietly helping was a wonderful example to family and friends. A loving husband and father, deeply committed to the well being of his family. His lifelong commitment to the tradition of service included Immaculate Conception Parish, United Community Concerns Association of Elmhurst, the Elmhurst Public Library, the City of Elmhurst and many more through the years. The crowning achievement of his extended tenure on the library board was to champion the referendum for construction of the new library. David was the beloved husband of Debra Ann, nee Deakin; loving father of Barbara (Elhadji) Diagne , David Jr., Christianne (Jason) Brown; proud grandfather of Josephine and Alexandra; dear brother of Thomas (Mary Ann) Dyer and Diane (James) Byrne. Visitation Thursday, 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday, 8:00 a.m. until time of funeral 9:00 a.m. at Gibbons Funeral Home, 134 South York Road, (1/2 mile North of St. Charles Road), Elmhurst. Mass of Christian Burial 9:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment Saint Mary Catholic Cemetery. Deb… there are NO words that can console you.. make you feel better… bring David back… stop your heart from breaking at this time…I love you.. Miss you.. wish I was there at these rough times…my heart goes out to you.. my box of kleenex is getting low.. we don’t know why these things happen.. all I can say is that God needed a damn good accountant up there to keep track of everyone…so now God has His Accountant ANGEL.. a sassy angel but non the less our Lord needed him for something…. We will all meet again at the end of our journey… with no aches and pains… and we will celebrate…..see you next month my dearest friend… you are always in my mind and heart.. xoxoxoxo

I am so sorry for your loss. I can’t believe this happened, I just saw Dave a few weeks ago. He was a one of a kind person. He had a sharp mind, quick wit and personality that could fill a room. I always looked forward to seeing him when home. The entire Decker clan on the west coast is mourning with you. Much love from Seattle.

Our sincere sympathy to family & friends. David was our neighbor, as we (the Majewski famiy) lived on Arlington Ave. We live in Michigan for the summer months, so we missed the funeral. Blessings to all.
