Michael J. Holmes, age 91, Native of Co. Mayo, Ireland, currently of Lombard, beloved husband of Ann, nee Cummings; loving father of Annie Henry, Eileen ( the late Keith) Carlson, Peggy Holmes, Una (Alan) Vujica, Kathy Pivoney and the late Theresa (Donny) Shallcross and Thomas P. Holmes; proud grandfather of of Tommy, Keith, Colin, Kevin, Jessica, Kelly, Michael and Samantha; fond brother and uncle of many. Visitation Thursday 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Gibbons Funeral Home, 134 South York Road, (½ mile North of Saint Charles Road), Elmhurst. Friends and family will meet for a Mass of Christian Burial Friday, 9:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 134 Arthur Street, Elmhurst.     I’m so very sorry for the loss of Mr Holmes. He was such a great family man and fun person. I was always happy to see him at the family gatherings and up at CAPS. I will not be able to make it to the wake or funeral due to work, but I send all my love to the family and will keep all the family in my prayers. ❤️❤️❤️

    I was greatly saddened hearing about Mike’s passing,Mike was a strong union man ,and willing to help a newer operator on the job site ,he will be sorely missed at the St.Patricks day parade and other Emerald club functions,in closing your family has my deepest condolences.

    I’m sorry to learn of Mike’s passing so late. He and my father (Bob Karcz) shared a long friendship. I had the privilege of meeting Mike myself quite a few years ago, and enjoyed many conversations with him.
