Roland J. Fischer, 92, passed away on April 25 due to complications from Parkinson’s disease. He was the beloved husband of Clarise, (nee Smet); loving father of Kathryn (Dave) Johnson, Jerry Fischer, Terry (Joe Norris) Fischer, and Daniel (Ann) Fischer and stepfather of Jeffrey (Ann) Lee, Patrick (Jody) Lee, Suzanne (Jeffrey) McCracken, and the late Stephen Lee. He was the proud grandfather of Sean (Katie) Donnelly, Meghan (Steve) Frisvold, Jenna (Keith) Fortman, Taylor (Corey) Gilardi, Ryan (Jordan) Fischer, Elizabeth (Stephen) Newman, Brian (Kelly), Kathleen (Ashley Simms), and Michael Fischer, Jesse, Molly, Dora, Matthew (Natalya), Allyson, Adam, and Derek Lee, Stephen, Michelle, and Bridget McCracken and great-grandfather of Madeline, Felix, Hailey, Landen, Kayden, Joseph, John, Julia, Liam, and Calvin. Roland was proud to serve during World War II as a Signalman First Class in the U.S. Navy. He attended Roosevelt University in Chicago under the GI Bill and earned a degree in business. This led to a career in the insurance industry and eventually he started his own agency, Roland J Fischer and Assoc. Roland was very active enjoying golf, swimming, water volleyball, dancing, but most of all, playing cards at which he excelled. He enjoyed sailing at his Wisconsin lakeside cottage where he and Clarise spent many summers. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his large family often arranging family reunions throughout the U.S. He loved to travel and took many long freighter trips to different ports around the world. Roland’s good natured joking and sunny disposition endeared him to all.
